Song: I Will Say (Lou Fellingham)

Would like to share with you this worship song.  The first time I heard it, I put it on Repeat on my iTunes. Oh, about thirty-eight times.  Lou Fellingham’s sweet voice delivers the beautiful melody and powerful Scripture-based lyrics to the heart.

The song talks about God in the ongoing action of giving rest to the weary and bringing strength to the weak.  The repetition of the word “wait” is a reminder to allow the Lord to do what He— the faithful, All-knowing,, All-wise All-loving, Everpresent Alpha and Omega— is doing.

Before, during, or after any circumstance that makes us weary, weak, anxious, there is an advanced choice regardless of feeling that “I will say”.  The advanced decision is to praise and worship the Lord and declare Him as my personal Refuge (where I feel unsafe from danger, pursuit, or trouble); my personal Strength in my weakness, my personal shelter /shade/safeguard/defender/shield/cover from harm.

And Who is this God with whom we can have a personal relationship? He is The Source of All Creation, He is the One who gives living water from the well that never dries, He is the One who won’t grow tired. This is The One we can wait for.  How can any other one or thing compare?  Who do we hope in? Who do we wait upon? Who are we seeking help from? Is it The Lord?  Are we waiting on the Lord? Are we waiting for His instructions? Are we waiting for His confirmation? Are we responding to people and situations with Him foremost in our minds?

I Will Say

by Lou Fellingham

You give rest to the weary
You bring strength to weak
As they wait in Your presence
There is grace for their need
So I’ll wait, I’ll wait
Yes I’ll wait for You
I will say of the Lord ‘He is my refuge’
I will say of the Lord ‘He is my strength’
I will say of the Lord “He is my shelter, my hiding place’
I will come to the source of all creation
I will drink from the well that never dries
I will draw from the one who won’t grow tired, the Lord of all
You can come in the silence
You can come in the noise
Bringing peace in a moment
Bringing comfort and joy

Dear Lord,

Only by Your grace can we walk in step with You.  Apart from You we can do nothing. Please help us to always wait upon You always in Jesus’s name and for His glory Amen.

Matthew 11:28 (NIV)

Isaiah 40:29 (NIV)
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

Psalm 27:14(NASB)
14 Wait for the Lord;
Be strong and let your heart take courage;
Yes, wait for the Lord.

Isaiah 40:31 (NASB)
Yet those who wait for the Lord
Will gain new strength;
They will mount up with wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary.

Psalm 91:2 (NIV)
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

Isaiah 40:28 (NIV)
28 Do you not know?
    Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
    and his understanding no one can fathom.
