Have you been seeking to align yourself with God’s will but have been discouraged by what a person has said? Even a person who is your authority?
Proverbs 21:1 NASB says The king’s heart is like channels of water in the hand of the Lord; He turns it wherever He wishes.
Can you picture that illustration, that God can move the direction of that channel of water (representing the heart of that person). He can turn the heart of leaders according to where He wants. As long as it’s aligned with His will. This means that if you want that person to do something wrong, you can not apply this verse. Same goes for when we do not ask God (James 4:2), when we have wrong motives, and when we have selfish reasons (v3).
James 4:2-4 NASB 2 You lust and do not have; so you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask [a]with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures. 4 You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
A man’s desire and statement is not the final answer. God has the vetoing, overriding power. Let us put our hope in God.
Proverbs 19:21 says NASB Many plans are in a man’s heart, But the counsel of the Lord will stand. People can devise plans elaborately but God can override those plans
Dear Lord,
Thank You for Your reminder that we should put our hope in You, that we will not be discouraged by what seems to be the final answer in the physical realm. Help us to remember to ask you, to ask with pure motives aligned with Your will, and to not be selfish in what we ask for. We praise You for no matter what seems to be a dead end here on earth, You still have overriding power. Help us also gain wisdom on the things which You are revealing to be against Your will (the ones which go against Your Word), so we do not waste our time pursuing those things. We know that Your perfect will only includes what is best for us for You, our Father are holy and only want what is best for Your children. Thank You for we can rest in knowing that You are always seeking what is best for our own good in Jesus’s name amen.
