Eph 6:15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
Paul gives us a visual of footwear as part of God’s full armor. Among apparel items, the one thing I would be willing to spend a good amount of hard-earned money on is well-fitted shoes. Discomfort in other apparel items can be annoying but if the discomfort and pain are on the feet, it is torture. The blisters and pain continue on for days even after I have switched to a better shoe. When I am running an important task, when my feet hurt at every step, it is very distracting and makes me want to either find a chair to sit on, stop what I’m doing to go back home, have a divided mind because I am looking out for a source of foot relief remedies alongside my original task, and sometimes, if I am traveling in another country, I ask my companions if we can go home as soon as we can, thereby distracting them from their own task as well.
In combat, the proper footwear gives good grip, ample protection, enables mobility for great lengths and periods if necessary. It helps retain focus in the soldier himself and enables him to help others instead of being the person who drags them from their task.
