How grateful would you feel if someone queued up for you to get an airline ticket during travel peak season? How about if a warrant of arrest was issued against you on a Friday and just five minutes before the work day ended, someone bailed you out? How about if a bad case of diarrhea saved you from going to work on time at the Twin Towers in New York on the day of the September 11 attacks?
It is not immediately evident what Jesus rescued us from. Sometimes it is only by knowing what we were spared from that we can appreciate it.
Col 1:13 For God has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves
Jesus rescued us from the judgment of sin through satisfying its payment by dying in our place. From our destruction-destined path, He gives us salvation, eternal life through faith in Him.
1 John 2:2 NIV He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
We were objects of wrath destined for judgment for sin. No matter the “smallness” of sin as even “little ones” like a “white” lie qualifies us for the fiery lake of burning sulfur.
Rev 21:8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.
Thank You, Lord, for rescuing us from the dominion of darkness and sin and bringing us to Your kingdom through faith in Jesus Christ.
