Friends met up for a potluck Board Games afternoon. Emy brought John whose gentle, thoughtful, loving, and funny demeanor is always a joy. Here is John with Marion and Aki:
He even brought some yummy Chocolate Cranberry cookies he made with his mom:
Ann heated up her Salted Egg Shrimps and Marion her Pancit.
We had plenty of Tita Lenn’s Siopitos, nibbles, and Lemon Ginger cupcakes.
We divided ourselves into two teams by Hompiang (Palm side up on one team and palm side down on the other).
We played Malu’s Outburst Bible Edition. Thought we would get a lot of answers right but the game challenges you to think beyond the obvious! Then we played Emy’s Bananagram. Everyone’s a winner in this game.
Missionary and author, Malu, shared a devotion on Psalm 1.
1 Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers.
This psalm comes with a beautiful promise to prosper in whatever we do and be like a healthy well-nourished tree that yields fruit in season— fruit at its best, not force-ripened. But that blessing is rooted in delighting, meditating in God’s Word as a lifestyle so we can walk in step and be in tune with God no matter what the world comes to.
Then it was time to go back to work after everyone went home.
