Spiritual Warfare 2: Victory in the Lord

The preceding post, “Know Your Enemy” looks into the war that you and I are thrust in without having enlisted. It is a spiritual warfare ongoing. The enemy is not people but Satan and the powers of darkness in the heavenly realms. Satan is not the opposite of God, according to Pastor David Jeremiah (based on the Bible). The opposite of Satan is only Michael the Archangel because they are both creatED whereas God is in a totally different plane, being CreatOR.

Psalm 20:6 NIV Now this I know: The Lord gives victory to his anointed. He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand.

God gives victory to those who are walking in the Holy Spirit, obedient to Him. No one, not even Satan can stand against God. Victory is in the Lord.

Psalm 144:1 NIV Praise be to the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.

God trains us for war. Ephesians 6 shows us the Full Armor of God. Let’s look at it one weapon at a time.

The Armor of God
Eph 6:10 NIV Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

It is important to note that the strength we need for this battle is the strength of the Lord in His omnipotence (almighty power), omniscience (all-knowing wisdom), and omnipresence (presence everywhere). This is not a battle in the flesh or wit or influence of human capacity. The enemy is Satan and the dark forces and we can not fight this out in the flesh. Our natural responses when we are opposed will be to fight with people and resort to the old self-led ways of doing things. But sin will weaken our position in this war. Sinful solutions will prevent victory.

Zechariah 4:6 NIV So he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.

This battle needs to be fought in the power of the Lord, in alignment with His Holy Spirit.

Dear Lord,

Thank You for training me for this battle through Your Word. Thank You for Your reminder that You are my strength, that Your wisdom and not mine should be my guide, that I must rely on Your power and not mine in this battle. I need You and thank You that You generously give Your Holy Spirit to me and You give me Your Word to guide me and You give me my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ through whom I have direct access to You in His name and for His glory, amen
