Christ, My Only Hope of Glory

Apart from Him, I can do nothing.

John 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

It is only by abiding (staying, remaining, following, hiding in) Him that the fruit of His Spirit will be manifested in me.  When I am asking Him to fill me with His Spirit, the collective-as-one fruit will be displayed, credit to Him and not me.

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

When I turn to the Lord, the veil that prevents me from seeing is taken away.

2 Corinthians 3:16  But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.

Anyone (“we all” without exception) who would be willing to turn to the Lord will be able to see the Lord’s glory of who He is, what He’s done, how He works.  Turning to Him and following Him, we go into the ongoing continual process of being transformed progressively to be more like Him and less like our natural selves.  Progressively rid of hate and unforgiveness, more and more love.  Rid of anxiety, worry and more peace, Progressively rid of impatience, selfishness, controlling spirit, and more patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV) And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit

Thank You, Lord that You are changing me to be more like You.  You in me are my only hope of glory.

Reflection Questions:  When I see the opposite of the fruit of His Spirit, what is hindering Jesus from fully manifesting in me? Am I keeping in mind that I am His temple in whom He dwells and therefore being mindful that I behave accordingly?  Is there an unconfessed sin not just the biggies like murder but the seemingly passable sins (judging, resentment, gossip) that are sin nonetheless and break my communication lines with Him?
