Arm Yourself

Today’s YouVersion Verse:

Who you are against or who is against you is not your enemy.

Our struggle is not against people (“flesh and blood”) even though if we only look at the natural, we are constrained into thinking this or that person is the enemy.

Our struggle, in the higher reality, is against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms— the devil and his angels.  Those spiritual forces would like you to think that persons are enemies … in keeping with the devil’s schemes to steal, kill, and destroy, isolate, divide, deceive and then deprive you of what is rightfully yours in God’s plan— the abundant life with the fruit of the Holy Spirit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

For such a warfare, victory lies in being armed.  There are wrong, ineffective, unproductive weapons that are natural resorts — anger, unforgiveness, bitterness, gossip, and other gear typical of the spirits of darkness.

But the weapons of mass destruction are the full armor of God to give you victory and keep you standing firm. It consists of truth, righteousness, readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the only offensive weapon in the armor that can slay the enemy— the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God.
