Shirahige Falls, Biei, Hokkaido

A very short drive away from the Biei Blue Pond is the Shirahige Falls. The flowing water to the beautiful turquoise waters below resembles a “White Beard” and that is the meaning of its name, “Shirahige.”  The waterfall descends from 600 meters above sea level.

We can view this pretty waterfall from Shirogane (Blue River) Bridge.

The snow-capped land formations at the distance are the Tokachi Volcanic Group whose mudflow precipitated the works on Biei River that caused the gorgeous turquoise Biei Pond.

Psalm 42:7 Deep calls to deep
    in the roar of your waterfalls;
all your waves and breakers
    have swept over me.
11 Why, my soul, are you downcast?
    Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
    for I will yet praise him,
    my Savior and my God.
