Praise for When You Don’t Understand

Ike Rikert, a pastor, lost his wife when she gave birth to their first child. His child died as well. He had two friends, Babbie Mason and Eddie Carswell who wanted to encourage him. Babbie said of Ike, “Though he was a “strong brother in the Lord”, he went “into the depths of depression, holding onto life by a thread.” Babbie (the gospel singer, songwriter, talk show host, and adjunct professor of songwriting at two universities) and Eddie wanted to write a song to encourage Ike and came up with “Trust His Heart”, a song that is popularly sung to encourage the people of God all over the world today. They used the writing by Charles Spurgeon which inspired Ike and which the latter used for his testimonies:

“God is too wise to be mistaken. God is too good to be unkind. And, when you can’t trace His hand, you can always trust His heart.”

Here are some quotes from Babbie Mason:

“One of the main things that I see that is forcing us to come together is tragedy… the thing that will draw us together is going to be persecution, tragedy, and trouble…And, I think that is really going to be the job description of the Church: to rally together and to be a refuge for those that are lost.

I am a messenger of the Gospel…I know that the love of Jesus Christ works; it changes lives. A relationship with Jesus makes all the difference in one’s life. Once I discovered who I am in Christ and the purpose that He has for me, I have never been happier or more fulfilled in my life. Jesus loves you, in spite of yourself, and He has a great plan for your life if you will just go on a treasure hunt to find it. The Bible says that we will find Him if we search for Him with all of our hearts. So I’ve been on that pursuit and it’s been a great journey. I know that I have just scratched the surface of His plan for me, and it’s pretty exciting right now. So, I encourage people to fall more deeply, more intimately, more madly, more passionately, in love with Jesus, and to search to be on a hot pursuit to find God’s plan for their lives.”

TRUST HIS HEART
By Babbie Mason

All things work for our good
Though sometimes we don’t see how they could
Struggles that break our hearts in two
Sometimes blind us to the truth
Our Father knows what best for us
His ways are not our own
So when your pathway grows dim
And you just don’t see Him
Remember you’re never alone

God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don’t understand
When you don’t see His plan
When you can’t trace His hand
Trust His heart
Trust His heart

He sees the master plan
And He holds our future in His hand
So don’t live as those who have no hope
All our hope is found in Him
We see the present clearly
But He sees the first and the last
And like a tapestry
He’s weaving you and me
To someday be just like Him

God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don’t understand
When you don’t see His plan
When you can’t trace His hand
Trust His heart
Trust His heart
He alone is faithful and true
He alone knows what is best for you

God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don’t understand
When you don’t see His plan
When you can’t trace His hand
Trust His heart
Trust His heart

When you don’t understand
When you don’t see His plan
When you can’t trace His hand
Trust His heart
Trust His heart
