Did you see the Solar Eclipse yesterday in the news? It was a spectacularly glorious display across the sky leaving millions of fortunate Americans who watched it firsthand in awe! I only get to see it on Youtube.

Does the solar eclipse have any meaning for Christians?  I looked for articles online and found this in case you’re interested:

“Nowhere does the Bible say… that this means [the Rapture will happen during the eclipse because]… we don’t know the day or the hour[of the Rapture]… I believe that there are two extremes on this topic that must be avoided: 1) That this is meaningless, with zero biblical foundation, significance, and Biblical insight.; 2)  The other extreme is it means the end of the world… 

Here’s what I want to say:  It is not coincidence that the eclipse is happening on [August 21 equivalent of] Elul 1 [from The Hebrew (biblical) calendar], the beginning of the 40-day countdown to Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement). The idea that God would use a sign to send a message goes all the way back to Genesis where the sun, the moon, and the stars, are described biblically as being signs for the appointed times (the feasts of the Lord)… There are seven dates on God’s calendar every year: four in the Spring, three in the Fall, and a summer gap where there’s no feast.

Two thousand years ago, Jesus fulfilled all four of the Spring feasts on the very day of their divine appointment… The whole book of Revelation talks about the fulfillment of those final three feasts…. The next feast to be fulfilled is the Feast of Trumpets; I believe it’s a signal for the Rapture, then Atonement, and then finally, Tabernacles (the coming of the Kingdom). The three feasts in the Fall point to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ…

Jesus fasted for forty days. Do you know that our Messianic Jewish brothers and sisters (in the Lord who believe that Jesus is the Messiah) say it wasn’t just any forty days; it was form Elul 1 (for thirty days on the month of Elul) and the next month is Tishri… and on the tenth day is the Feast of Yom Kippur [regarded as the holiest day of the year when people are closest to God and forgiveness of sins is asked]...

Luke 21:25, Matt Ch 24, Jesus gave signs for His coming. He said, “There shall be signs in the sun, moon, and the stars.”  Solar eclipses… have significance because that’s how God prearranged His calendar…

Seven years from now, another solar eclipse is coming and it makes like an X… the first place it touches Oregon is a place called Salem… in the Bible, the original name of Jerusalem.  

(It’s all about praying for Jerusalem)… That [eclipse] begins on [the month of] Nissan 1, the beginning countdown to Passover.  That X is the last letter in the Hebrew alphabet…Tov… It could be a symbol of The Cross.
