Gripped By Incurable Heart Disease

Jeremiah 17:9 (NIV) 9 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?

In the same chapter which says that cursed is man when he trusts in flesh but blessed is man when he trusts in the Lord, God reveals to us our heart disease: Our hearts are deceitful above all things and beyond cure. There is a way to justify. There is a way to manipulate. There is a way to always seem right, feel right, be proven right. But God sees through the heart with x-ray vision. Nothing is hidden from Him. And the Word of God can penetrate all those facades and brick walls. That’s why to some, it can be so annoying. The Word gives us absolutely nowhere to hide.

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

But that is the love of God seeking to save us from our selves, making a way for us to find our way back to our Father. Until we surrender these naturally deceitful hearts to Him, we can always convince ourselves that we are A-ok and do not need help or changing. We can deceive ourselves into believing fully the lies the heart can weave like an actor who needs to make the script into his reality.

Oh Lord, apart from You, we are lost, corrupt, self-deceiving, willfull, dark. Shine Your laser light of Truth and Holy Spirit on us. Renew our minds with Your Word. Transform our hearts. Save us from the destruction-bound darkness that are our default destination. Guide us into Your Truth and set us free. Unshackle us from the enemy’s lies and our fleshly desires. Holy Spirit, fill us, control us, be our Guide. Clean up our hearts and live in us. Help us to live the full, abundant lives You have always intended for us. You are the Master Cardiologist Healer of the terminally ill. We give our hearts to You for healing and we ask for renewed true life in Jesus’s name
