Birds’ Feathers

I just about froze this morning as we dared the winds while exploring the Vancouver Waterfront. I realized that the Extra Warm Heatteach of Uniqlo did not warm me. I needed to upgrade to the ULTRA WARM Heattech thermals for me not to freeze.

Then, we come across this happy little bird frolicking in a water fountain!

I remembered that the trusty Uniqlo coat I have been wearing during my entire winter trip is filled with bird’s down feathers. These feathers that go through an elaborate process to warm humans… these are freely provided by God to the birds.

Whenever I see birds, I remember Jesus citing them as an example for God’s instruction not to worry… that He provides for them… not just their food to survive but the protection they need against nature’s changing/ challenging conditions.

Matthew 6:26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?…31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Lord, thank You for your reminders not to worry because You are our Provider. Can you please help me fully apply not worrying? Can you please help me focus on prioritizing seeking Your kingdom and righteousness and not my worries?
